Kleineutersdorf is located on the right side above the Saale about 20 km south of Jena. The village was first mentioned in the middle of the 12th century and represents the Slavic secondary settlement of the Germanic village of "Oydersdorph" on the left bank of the Saale - today called Großeutersdorf - represent. Both places are connected by a bridge built in 1908 by the architect Paul Moser. Steel cable suspension bridge connected.

In the middle of a beautiful and traditionally wild forest area not far from the village, halfway to Hummelshainis home to the remarkable Hunting ground Rieseneck with running trenches, underground passages and hunting screens. On the southern edge of the complex there is a tower-like building - the Duke's chair. This unusual building was erected in the 20th century as a private retreat for Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Altenburg.

Another beautiful hiking destination is the Leubengrund with its mills and fish ponds. The Linz mill about 6 km from Kleineutersdorf has been developed into a popular hotel and offers regional Thuringian cuisine.
