On the eastern edge of a small limestone plateau of the Schafberg, high above the course of the Unstrut, Zscheiplitz with its old monastery church dominates the silhouette of the landscape. From its height there is an enchanting view of the Unstrut valley and the Neuenburg castle, which is located opposite the wide valley. In 1985, the monastery church was again in a disastrous condition and left to decay. The monastery brothers dared, despite lack of funds, to take on the monument and thus save it from further damage.
