The church was completed in 1697. The simple building is built in strict lines on the ground plan of a cross. With the establishment of a new cemetery with a chapel in the north of the town, the church served as a place of worship from 1902. It was rebuilt after 1970 and is now used as a regional church archive. It was built between 1692 and 1697 in the shape of a Greek cross.

The Kreuzkirche is open every first Thursday of the month.
