Kunsthaus Apolda Avantgarde
Kunsthaus Apolda Avantgarde
The exhibition venue with an international character in Weimarer Land
Since 1995, the Kunsthaus Apolda Avantgarde has been delighting visitors from all over the world with exhibitions by international and regional artists. Lectures, auctions, book readings and cinema screenings are also held in the two-storey villa built in 1872 in the Italian country house style. In 2001, this commitment was honored with the Cultural Award of the Free State of Thuringia.
The building itself is already a work of art worth seeing, as the street-side windows of the former knitwear factory have been appropriately staged by EKKEHARD CLAUS ENGELMANN from Jena with 11 acrylic paintings under the ambiguous title „Verstickungen“.
The high quality and variety of the exhibitions presented have contributed to the fact that over 600,000 visitors have found their way to the Kunsthaus Apolda Avantgarde since 1995.
The Kunsthaus is an ambassador for the Weimarer Land and the feel-good town of Apolda and is characterized above all by great, often „courageous“ exhibition projects. The high ceilings of the villa and the quiet creaking of the stairs create a charming contrast. We are not surprised that the house is well-known and popular outside Apolda.
