The baroque village of Bendeleben looks back on a long history. The village has been documented since 870. The village is characterized by various buildings from the Baroque period, such as the manor house, the new castle, the pleasure garden with orangery and an extensive park. This park with essential elements of the English garden was laid out in 1765 by Baron von Uckermann. In 1770 the extraordinary Orangery was built and the pleasure garden was redesigned. The plants of the Sondershausen princely palace wintered in the greenhouses. The grounds, which had been severely neglected over a century, were nevertheless preserved and thanks to a renovation in recent years, the orangery shines in new splendor as a cultural monument. As an outdoor location of the 2021 Federal Horticultural Show in Erfurt, visitors were able to experience the special charm of the small baroque village of Bendeleben. This district of the municipality of Kyffhäuserland is scenically located in a valley basin and is also easily accessible for hikers and cyclists.
