Kyffhäuserland OT Steinthaleben
The village of Steinthaleben, located on the western foothills of the Kyffhäuser Mountains, is known primarily for one sight: The Kyffhäuser Monument, one of the largest monuments in Germany - honoring the legendary German emperors Wilhelm I and Friedrich I, usually called Barbarossa - is located in the village's district. Visible from afar, the monument, which is a good 80 meters high, towers over the Kyffhäuser Mountains and offers an impressive panoramic view of the Kyffhäuser Nature Park and the Goldene Aue. The relics of the once mighty Reichsburg Kyffhausen also impress visitors. Hikers and cyclists will find an attractive network of trails in the Steinthaleben district of the municipality of Kyffhäuserland, including the certified quality hiking trail Kyffhäuserweg.
