The Laura concentration camp memorial is located on the site of the former Buchenwald concentration camp satellite camp of the same name.

Between September 1943 and April 1945, 2600 men from 15 European nations had to perform forced labor here in the Thuringian Slate Mountains for the German rocket armament.

Since 1979 there has been a memorial and museum at the site, which is now run and maintained by the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt.
