Langenhain

Langenhain is a district of the town of Waltershausen in the district of Gotha in Thuringia with around 900 inhabitants.

Langenhain is a clearing settlement from the medieval expansion of the countryside and was founded in the 13th century. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1286.[1] In its founding period, the village was located in one of the centers of power of the Ludovingians, whose center of power and place of origin was at Reinhardsbrunn Monastery in the immediate vicinity. Later, especially under the Wettins who succeeded the Ludovingians, the center of power shifted more strongly to Gotha, so that Langenhain belonged to the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha (until 1858 to its Tenneberg office) until the end of the monarchy in Germany. On July 1, 1950, Langenhain was incorporated into the town of Waltershausen.
