The only inner-city high-rise building in Weimar at Jakobsplan 1, called "Langer Jakob" is home to numerous young students of the two universities located in Weimar: the Bauhaus University Weimar and the FRANZ LISZT Weimar University of Music. The building was constructed between 1970 and 1972 under the direction of Anita Bach, the first female professor of architecture in the former GDR. The building complex in the Jakobsvorstadt between the Gauforum, Jakobskirche and the historic city center is a listed building.
