The small settlement was originally owned by the minstrel Otto von Botenlauben, then passed to the Counts of Frankenstein and finally to the Counts of Henneberg in 1330. The ore wealth on the Klinge, where the ironstone was mined, formed the basis of this mining settlement. An iron hammer mill on the Lutinbach is mentioned in documents as early as 1348. The ore processing plant with the multi-storey mine and culture building below Laudenbach was in operation until 1991, when it was shut down and has since been demolished. In 1950, the village was merged into Trusetal.
