The city Leinefelde-Worbis with its districts of Beuren, Birkungen, Breitenbach, Breitenholz, Hundeshagen, Kallmerode, Kaltohmfeld, Kirchohmfeld, Leinefelde, Wintzingerode and Worbis is located in the middle of the scenic Eichsfeld region on the south-western edge of the Harz Mountains between the Dün and Ohmgebirge mountain ranges. The Leine, Wipper, Ohne and Hahle rivers have their sources here.

Leinefelde. The former village became famous in the mid-18th century for its trade in wool, hair, furs and mustard and grew into the youngest town in the former GDR in the 1960s with the construction of the cotton spinning mill. Today, Leinefelde is known worldwide for its exemplary urban redevelopment talk of the town. The "Zur Insel" building is the birthplace of Johann Carl Fuhlrott, the discoverer of the Neanderthal. A memorial stone was erected here in his honor. The Leine, which rises here from 10 springs, gave the place its name and is the starting point for the Leine Heath Cycle Route from Leinefelde to Hamburg. On the hill between the old town, the southern town and the housing estates is the Lunapark with the war memorial. The Japanese Garden is designed by a Japanese garden architect and recreates the Eichsfeld landscape in miniature. The nostalgic apartment, furnished with great attention to detail, shows how people lived in prefabricated housing before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Worbis. The state-approved health resort can look back on over 850 years of history. Worbis is a member of the German Half-Timbered House Road on the regional route "From the Harz Mountains to the Thuringian Forest". The representative buildings and churches in the town center are evidence of the town's history and half-timbered construction, mainly from the Baroque to Biedermeier era. There is also evidence that some of the buildings are much older, e.g. the "Rent Office"a former Kurmainzer Amtshaus, from 1530 or the "Gülden Creutz" from 1580. one of the many Wipper springswhich all have their source in the town center, were made visible by a border in Braustraße. The Wipper can be seen particularly well at the aqueduct of the Büschlebsmühle can be visited. The watermill farmstead with mill ponds and water wheel is the last remaining active mill in the Wipperaue. The monastery church "St. Anthony once belonged to the Franciscan monastery and is a place of pilgrimage due to the Antonius pilgrimage.
