The Leine rises in a spring area between the Dün and Ohmgebirge mountains in the old town center of Leinefelde. You can visit one of the ten springs in the beautiful gardens of the "Zur Insel" residential and commercial building. The spring is the starting point for the 413-kilometre Leine-Heide cycle path from Leinefelde to Hamburg.
