LOTTO Thuringia EISARENA Oberhof
LOTTO Thuringia EISARENA Oberhof
The Oberhof luge and bobsleigh track, which has been known as the LOTTO Thüringen EISARENA since 2020, was inaugurated in 1971 as the second artificial ice track in the world. With its challenging and selective curve profile, the facility is considered one of the most difficult tracks in the world. The thrilling World Cup races attract thousands of winter sports fans, spectators and visitors to Oberhof every year. In 2023, Thuringia's winter sports stronghold will host the World Championships for the fourth time. There is also a starting facility (built in 2001) at the foot of the track, which is used for training and competitions in luge, skeleton and bobsleigh. Combined summer and winter use is possible. In summer 2013, the entire take-off facility was enclosed in an energy-efficient manner, so that optimum training and competition conditions are possible whatever the weather.
