Louis Fürnberg Monument
Louis Fürnberg began his literary career in the 1920s with poems against the rise of National Socialism in Czechoslovakia. He came to the GDR as an ambassador in 1951 and moved to Weimar in 1954. He was a co-founder of the literary journal "Weimarer Beiträge". The bust created by sculptor Martin Reiner was unveiled on Fürnberg's 52nd birthday (1961). It stands on a stone plinth not far from the Sternbrücke bridge in the park on the Ilm. Nearby is the monument to Adam Mieckiewicz, to whom Fürnberg dedicated the novella Encounter in Weimar dedicated.
