The Luisenturm tower, built in 1864, can be seen from afar on the 515 m high Hummelsberg near Kleinkochberg. The tower is 18 m high and 78 steps lead up to the viewing platform. From here, the view extends far across the Saale valley and the Saale-Ilm plateau to the mountain ranges of the Franconian Forest and the Thuringian Forest. On a clear day and with a bit of luck, you can even see the Brocken in the distance to the left of the Ettersberg near Weimar. To the east, until recently you could still see the cones of the spoil tips near Ronneburg.
