Lusthäuschen Langenwolschendorf
Lusthäuschen Langenwolschendorf
Located on the sunny circular hiking trail on the Schönen Höhe.
History: In 1790, Prince Heinrich XLII. Reuß Jüngere Linie Schleiz chose the "Schöne Höhe" site to build his "Lusthaus" - a simple octagonal pavilion framed by 8 sturdy lime trees. The location was about 80 m west of today's elevated tank in an open field.
Here he enjoyed the magnificent view, meditated and probably also wrote his book "A Manuscript for Good Friends" at the same spot. In this little volume, he aptly described the ridge on which his "Lusthäusel" stood as "Schöne Höhe".
It was destroyed by arson in 1945. The pavilion was rebuilt in 2013 according to the historical model. It offers a magnificent all-round view of the landscape.
