Luther monument in the Glasbachgrund
Luther monument in the Glasbachgrund
On May 4, 1521, masked horsemen "attack" Martin Luther in the Glasbachgrund, near Bad Liebenstein, and "carry him off" to Wartburg Castle. But everything is only staged and serves to protect him. At the castle, Luther translates the New Testament into German. In the Glasbachgrund, a monument, the Luther beech and the Lutherborn commemorate the historic event.
