Luther House Schmalkalden
Luther House Schmalkalden
The impressive half-timbered house was built around 1520. Martin Luther lived here in February 1537 for the most important meeting of the Schmalkaldic League and published his Schmalkaldic Articles. The permanent exhibition "Making state with faith - Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous 1504-1567" can be seen in the so-called Luther apartment. The Hessian landgrave was a leading political pioneer of the Reformation, co-founder of the Schmalkaldic League and introduced the Reformation in Schmalkalden as early as 1525.
