The foundation stone for the Lutherkirche was laid in 1904 with the participation of the Princely House, and the church was consecrated on October 10, 1906 as the successor to the old garrison church. It is built in the neo-Gothic style and reflects the spirit of optimism in a newly emerging, middle-class district of the residence at the turn of the century. All architectural elements are executed in red sandstone as tracery, all smooth wall surfaces in gray, local sandstone. The church appears to have been assembled from an anchor stone construction kit. The uniform furnishings and their theological conception are highly interesting. The three stained glass windows in the chancel, which tell the story of salvation, and the musicians' and theologians' windows opposite each other on the sides are an essential component. They focus on biblical and theological or pious history, which, in addition to a Lutheran perspective, are also a reflection of contemporary historical thinking.
