The Märzenbechertal is located southwest of the district Landgrafroda in the Ziegelroda forest. It is a notch valley whose slopes are overgrown with beech and oak trees. Here the so-called spring knotflower (Leucojum vernum), also called Märzenbecher, has spread strongly and forms a unique sight during the flowering time between the end of February and the beginning of April. A carpet of millions of white blossoms of this protected plant attracts every year numerous visitors from near and far to the Märzenbecher valley, which has been designated as an areal natural monument since 1989 - a must for every nature lover!
