On the border of the national park lies a former court site of the Thuringian landgraves. The site is marked by a lime tree, the so-called Mallinde, and the Malstein, the place where justice was dispensed. The old lime tree is considered a landmark of the Hainich and has been placed under protection as a natural monument.
This is also the parking lot for hikers who want to explore the Hainich National Park on the 6.5 km long Sulzriedenweg trail or the 2.5 km long Silberborn adventure trail.
