Manebach
Manebach
UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Thuringian Forest
In the midst of a magnificent low mountain range landscape stretches the state-approved health resort Manebach (510-600 m above sea level), surrounded by mountains up to 861 m high, on the northeast slope of the Thuringian Forest in the picturesque Ilm valley. Extensive forests and idyllic valleys offer guests the best conditions for rest and relaxation in every season.
A extensive network of hiking trails in still intact nature leads the guest on historical traces to attractive destinations in the surroundings of Manebach.
Worth seeing and walking are especially the Goethe sites of the Goethewanderweg (from nearby Ilmenau to Stützerbach), such as the Great Hermann stone with cave, the Goethehäuschen on the Kickel Cock, the Museum Hunting lodge Gabelbach with museum, as well as the Swallow Stone Rockall of them places of work and rest of the great poet prince, who liked to stay in Manebach.
The forest inns "Mönchhof" "Schöffenhaus" and "Capercaillie" seduce hikers, cyclists and skiers, but also leisurely day trippers with fine Thuringian Culinary in a dignified-rustic ambience.
