The market town of Burkardroth is located in the spa district of Bad Kissingen, Bad Bocklet, Bad Brückenau and Bad Neustadt. Its twelve districts, Burkardroth, Frauenroth, Gefäll, Katzenbach, Lauter, Oehrberg, Premich, Stangenroth, Stralsbach, Wollbach, Waldfenster and Zahlbach are located in the valleys and on the southern slopes of the Rhön Nature Park.

On the southern slope of the Bavarian Rhön, the market town of Burkardroth is characterized by its hilly landscape and lies entirely within the "Bavarian Rhön Nature Park"as well as in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve of the UNESCO.
