In the center of the historic market square, the heart of Bad Neustadt's old town, stands an old fountain that has been crowned with a figure from the Baroque period since 1881.

The lady looking down on the colorful market hustle and bustle with a mild smile is actually a spring nymph from Greek mythology. But the people of Bad Neustadt soon found a popular nickname for her and still affectionately call her the „market bear“ to this day.

There are various retail outlets, cafés and restaurants around Bad Neustadt's market square. In addition to the old Marktbärbelbrunnen fountain, there is also a new water fountain for children to refresh themselves and play in.
