The hostel offers ideal conditions for people with mental and physical disabilities. The Markus-Gemeinschaft is itself a living and working community with a steadily growing number of people with various disabilities.

Vacation groups or individual travelers with companions enjoy exchanging experiences and creating a harmonious atmosphere for caregivers and guests to relax. Guided tours of the farm to get to know each other are offered - and barbecues and games evenings are also organized. The area surrounding the village is ideal for long walks. There are small towns with interesting sights in the surrounding area. The cities of Weimar and Erfurt, both prominent in German history, are only an hour's drive from Hauteroda.
