Martyr's tower
Martyr's tower
Kahla has an almost completely preserved town wall, which is mostly built over and therefore not always directly visible. Despite this, it has lost none of its imposing appearance. The town fortifications were reinforced after the War of the Counts in 1345. At the time, it consisted of three gates, six towers and two gates. One of the towers that has survived is the Marterturm tower, which was long referred to as the Löfflerturm tower due to an earlier misattribution.
