Mehrstedt was first mentioned in documents as a settlement in the 12th century and is now a district of Schlotheim. The village is a typical cluster village, whose inhabitants lived from agriculture and cattle breeding. Horse breeding and its trade played an important role. But also small handicraft businesses like blacksmiths, carpenters, wheelwrights and rope makers were located in Mehrstedt. The place is called by Three and four side yards which have been almost completely preserved in their historic architecture. Today, lovingly maintained half-timbered houses and latch facades create a varied streetscape.

A gem is the Church from the 17th century, which in its simple beauty modestly blends into the village image. Winding alleys give the place a contemplative romanticism. The "hedge" enclosing the village, a historic Protective wall, as well as the nearby Urtal, invite you to hike.
