Milo Barus exhibition
Milo Baros, whose real name was Emil Bahr, won the title of „World's Strongest Man“ at an international competition in Paris in 1930. He went on to defend this title in London, Calcutta, Cairo, Buenos Aires and New York. He tore up telephone directories, wrestled bulls to the ground, carried horses, pulled cars and packed buses with his teeth and lifted a streetcar filled to the brim from the tracks. In 1983, a feature film entitled „Milo Barus, the strongest man in the world“ was made about his life. Günter Lamprecht played the leading role. Together with his wife, he ran the Meuschkensmühle from 1952-1976. In his honor, the „Milo Barus Cup“ is held annually on 3 October at the foot of the Meuschkensmühle. Athletes compete there in weight training.
