Grottoneum hands-on stations

In front of the doors of the hands-on museum Grottoneum
You can explore the following stations at the Saalfeld Fairy Grottoes:

Treasure hunt station
Take part in washing and finding small treasures at our treasure hunt station in the fairy grotto park. Insert 3 euros in coins.
Tip: You can buy small organza bags or wooden treasure chests for the treasures you find in the fountain temple and the bratwurst hut.

Water art
Water arts have a long tradition in drainage and water supply. In addition to agriculture, they were also widely used in mining. An adventure area has been set up in the outdoor area of the Grottoneum, where various devices (hydraulic ram | swing pump | Archimedean screw | scoop wheel) can be learned about and tried out.

Göpelwerk
Göpel have been used since the 13th century, especially in mining for the transportation of rock material. By turning a bar in the center of the pithead, pit cages are moved and the material can be transported from the depths to the surface. Vivid information boards also provide interesting facts about how it works, the history of the fairy caves, the miners and much more.
