Moßbach is a municipality in the administrative community of Seenplatte in the Saale-Orla district of Thuringia.

Moßbach was first mentioned in 1326 as "Mosebach". It is probably named after the stream, which is conspicuously overgrown with moss and flows through the entire village.

Moßbach is a Slavic settlement with a typical village green as its center. It is laid out as a two-street village with 2 large village ponds and the village square as its center.

The large church with vicarage and cemetery and the "old school" form a triangle on the main street.

Two manors and the legendary cattle traders and large farmers once dominated the economic scene. Day laborers and goat farmers lived in nooks and side streets.

The Triptis-Lobenstein railroad line was built around 1896 and contributed to Moßbach's economic upswing. (BHG, dairy, restaurant, cattle dealer, goods station, etc.)
