Mund's Mill
Mund's Mill
A family business since 1732 - that is Mund's Mühle Landwirtschaft und Hoffleischerei in Kleinwechsungen. Back then, the mill was driven by a water wheel, which was assisted by a steam engine in the mid-19th century and later by a turbine. Grain is still processed into animal feed here today.
Until 1961, the mill was the Mund family's main source of income. Today, it is a building block in the closed cycle of the farm: from growing the grain to processing it into feed for their own animals, to the freshly handmade meat and sausage products that are available in the farm store in Kleinwechsungen and in the town store in Nordhausen.
The meat and sausage products from the Hoffleischerei come from pigs and cattle reared on the farm. The animals are kept on straw in a species-appropriate manner and are only fed on the farm's own, non-GMO feed. The Mund family prepares the home-butchered sausage according to traditional recipes using only natural spices. The range of sausage specialties includes Thuringian liver sausage, red sausage, brawn, crackling sausage, beer ham, meat loaf, hunting sausage and much more.
The products are available directly at the farm in Kleinwechsungen and in the town store in Nordhausen (Darrweg 29). Freshly cooked sausage is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 pm.
