The Salzmannschule Schnepfenthal Museum in Waltershausen is a museum dedicated to the history of education and philanthropy, as well as a memorial to the founders Christian Gotthilf Salzmann and Johann Christoph Friedrich GutsMuths.
Exhibition room 1 is dedicated to the topic of "philanthropism" with its most important pioneers and representatives. Room 2 is entitled "Schnepfenthal" and reports on the founding and successful development of the educational institution. The outstanding personalities Christian Gotthilf Salzmann, Johann Christoph Friedrich GutsMuths and other important educators who worked in Schnepfenthal at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries are presented in the Room 3 introduced as "The Makers". In Room 4 visitors can discover "Everyday school life" from the time of its foundation to the present day.
