The Museum of Applied Arts in Gera is located in the Ferbersche Haus, one of the most impressive baroque residential complexes in Gera. It is the only specialized museum of its kind in Thuringia. Its collection and exhibition activities are dedicated to arts and crafts, fashion, design and home decor in all its diversity. The extensive permanent exhibition "Art Deco and Functionalism. Applied Art between the World Wars" presents modernist arts and crafts, furniture and graphics. German and international design with ceramics, glass and textiles by well-known designers form the focal points. Photography - including works by the avant-garde artist Aenne Biermann - and advertising graphics round off the collection profile. Changing special exhibitions and events complete the program.
