Museum for Thuringian Folklore
Museum for Thuringian Folklore
Housed in the so-called manor house of the Great Hospital, the Museum of Thuringian Folklore is one of the largest folklore museums in Germany. The rich exhibits on rural material culture are particularly noteworthy: furniture, household items, tools, textiles, glass, ceramics, jewelry, religious objects and objects of folk art.
The centerpiece is the exhibit „Experience-Change-Persist. Village life in the 19th century“ with the accompanying „century cabinet“.
Another visitor attraction is a display depot for ceramics set up in the vaulted cellar.
