Museum Tabakspeicher
Museum Tabakspeicher
The Museum Tabakspeicher provides a cross-section of Nordhausen's industry and crafts.
The building of today's museum was built in the 18th century and served as a tobacco warehouse in the 19th and 20th centuries. Together with the adjoining barn built in 2000, the warehouse is now used as a museum. Both half-timbered buildings display exhibitions on crafts, trade, industry and archaeology on over 1,000 m². All parts of the exhibition are also of interest to children and young people, and there are also educational activities on offer. „Museum by night“ is another attraction. In special experience areas, visitors are presented with telecommunications technology from different centuries, for example. Old projection equipment can be admired in the cinema hall. Children can experience a museum rally, for example.
Other exhibition areas depict the conditions in a laundry room and a store.
