In the middle of Thalbürgel, opposite the famous monastery church, you will find our local history museum. Since September 1992, it has been set up with the help of the local population on an area of 550 square meters in the old interest storehouse of the former Benedictine monastery of Bürgel. The interest granary, built around 1350, is the last fully preserved farm building of the monastery. The equipment is demonstrated to you - you can experience everything in action. If you feel like it, you can even try your hand in the tasting corner and the museum workshop. In addition to the usual themed guided tours, we also organize demonstrations of wool and flax processing or entire hiking days for you. The village school classroom can also be used for class reunions, last school lessons or sugar cone parties, for example.A complete historical shoemaker's workshop is supervised on Saturdays by two former master shoemakers. A historic classroom from a village school from the beginning of the 20th century also invites visitors to write with a slate and stylus.
