Museum642 - History of the town of Pößneck
Museum642 - History of the town of Pößneck
Pößneck horse heaven, a miniature black kitchen and a walk-in advertising pillar - all this and much more can be discovered at Klosterplatz 2-4-6 in Pößneck. The monumental ensemble of three historic buildings stands on the site of the former Carmelite monastery, which was founded here 700 years ago and existed until the Reformation. Starting from the covered inner courtyard, you can explore all levels of the Museum642 on an individual, multimedia tour. The museum spans the historical arc from the first mention of the town to the present day, sometimes with a twinkle in the eye and with plenty to experience. At the same time, there are repeated references to the diverse history of the houses and their use - from the medieval residential tower and monastic plaster crosses to the fish tank from the time of commercial use. You will encounter famous historical figures such as Goethe, but also ordinary people from different centuries and their fates. Each individual room is not only architecturally unique, it also offers several narrative levels. These trace the history of the city and the house and open up a biographical view from the perspective of historical figures from the city's history. History can be experienced directly at this authentic location. The museum store and city information center are also housed within the historic walls at Klosterplatz 2-4-6.
