Music in the moonlight (Bach exhibition at Ehrenstein Castle)
Music in the moonlight (Bach exhibition at Ehrenstein Castle)
The newly designed exhibition in Ehrenstein Castle, which has been open to the public again since June 2022, is dedicated to the History of the young Johann Sebastian Bach, who spent a formative part of his childhood in Ohrdruf after the death of his parents and learned to play the organ here. The exhibition uses numerous original documents, such as the so-called Bach register and the organ records, to document Johann Sebastian Bach's school days in Ohrdruf and the fact that, in addition to playing the organ, he also learned about the mechanics of the recurringly defective organ.
The exhibition is followed by five rooms restored in baroque style in which numerous works by Johann Sebastian Bach can be heard alongside a replica of a Harras harpsichord and a Ratzmann piano.
And the little ones have also been thought of: in addition to the Animated film An organ model and a music cabinet with pull-out sheet music are also available for playful learning.
