The nature experience center in the Hessian Rhön offers an insight into the world of the Red Moor.

Exhibition

Visitors can find out about the "Red Moor" ecosystem in the NABU permanent exhibition "Moorfibel" with the help of six interactive stations covering around 80 square meters. This includes the history of the Red Moor, its biodiversity and the native animal and plant species. The exhibition is structured like a book. Visitors can open chapters step by step and thus gain an in-depth insight into the special features of the Red Moor. The exhibition is suitable for all age groups and can be visited free of charge. 

Bog tour

NABU Hessen also offers two- to three-hour guided tours of the moor for groups, accompanied by experienced NABU moor guides. Groups can experience the unique "Red Moor" ecosystem up close and discover animal and plant species such as the little grebe and cotton grass. The moor tour starts and ends at the NABU house on the Red Moor and is suitable for all age groups. 

Restaurant

The in-house restaurant serves regional specialties such as Rhön lamb sausage or homemade potato salad in both summer and winter. You can also buy Rhön specialties such as regional jams, Rhön honey, fruit wines and Rhön soaps at the NABU House on the Red Moor.

Cross-country ski center in winter

In winter, the cross-country skiing center at the NABU-Haus am Roten Moor allows you to discover and experience the landscape on skis, as there are numerous groomed trails available. The necessary equipment can be hired on site. You can also buy last season's rental equipment at a reasonable price. The current sales prices can be found out on site or by telephone.
