The New Cemetery in Mühlhausen, inaugurated in 1928, is the most important cemetery complex in Thuringia in terms of garden design. It is an outstanding example of functionalism and expressionist architectural language of the early 20th century.

A geometric network of main and side paths stretches over 10.6 hectares, leading at their intersections to scoop fountains and in their center to the mourning hall.

The historic park has been a listed building since 1995.
