Ox eye Weimar
Ox eye Weimar
Refreshing and clear: The man-made stone circle "Ochsenauge" was built under the designs of Martin Gottlieb Klauer and Georg Melchior Kraus in 1786. The water basin with a constant temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius is fed by the small stream Leutra, which flows into the Ilm after only a few meters. The place can be easily reached by a staircase leading from the Sternbrücke and is located right next to the Sphinx Grotto, also created by Klauer. Franz Liszt was a frequent visitor to this place, and today the knee-high waterhole is mainly frequented by families and brave water rats in the summer months.
