The City Palace: The current shape of the Weimar City Palace, the residence of the Dukes of Saxe-Weimar and Eisenach, has evolved over a construction period of more than five hundred years. Located on the banks of the River Ilm, the complex emerged from a medieval moated castle and was first mentioned in documents at the end of the 10th century.
