St. Peter's Church
St. Peter's Church
Built from 1352, St. Peter's Church belonged to the parish of the Teutonic Order in the new town. The building was given its present form in 1893-1895 by re-vaulting and extending the nave to the west with a new façade. A memorial chapel for the victims of the First World War was consecrated in the north aisle in 1927. The monument „Outraged Christ“ by Walter Krause (1891-1967) in front is considered the most important work by the Mühlhausen sculptor. St. Petri is an open church on the Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage route.
