The former landlord, Chancellor Friedrich von Müller, personally saved Weimar from destruction by Napoleon's troops. His friend Goethe met his childhood sweetheart Charlotte Buff here in old age, who inspired him to write his world-famous "Werther". And the oldest pizzeria in Weimar has been operating here for almost 30 years.
