Platzer Kuppe
Platzer Kuppe
The Platzer Kuppe, located in the Bavarian Rhön, is 737 meters high and is part of the Hohe Rhön natural area.
The mountain is a small volcanic cone on the southern slope of the Rhön and is part of the "Black Mountains" nature reserve. The Platzer Kuppe, which lies in a park-like landscape of meadows and hedges, was designated as the "Platzer Kuppe" nature reserve back in 1939.
From the top of the mountain, you have a wonderful view over the headwaters of the Schondra, an ancient settlement area on a plateau from which nine basalt cones rise, the so-called "Franconian cone game", the highest of which is the Dreistelz. The Platzer Kuppe is located in an ideal hiking area with an extraordinary cultural landscape and rare mountain flora (silver thistle, Turk's cap lily, carnations).
The Platzer Kuppe is located on the premium hiking trail Extra tour "Kuppenweg".
