Ponitz is located on the edge of Sachen and has a lot to offer with its 1600 inhabitants.
Its location close to the neighboring towns of Meerane, Crimmitschau, Gößnitz and Schmölln makes Ponitz increasingly attractive for young families. The A4 highway is approx. 5 minutes by car from Ponitz and thus connected to the highway network. The city of Leipzig can be easily reached by S-Bahn within an hour. Various stops make it easy for residents to be flexible, e.g. Leipzig Airport, even without a car.

The municipality has its own kindergarten and the elementary school is also in the village. 
Two children's playgrounds invite children and parents to linger. The castle square is a dream setting for events of all kinds. On the one hand, you can see the Renaissance castle of Ponitz, which was built in 1574 and is now lovingly maintained by the municipality of Ponitz. The castle association has publicized it through exhibitions and other events. Opposite is the church with the famous Silbermann organ, the sounds of which still enchant young and old today. The newly built "Ponitz Arcaden" completes the village square. It contains 15 residential units and 3 commercial units. The commercial units include a beauty salon, occupational therapy and an ice cream parlor. This attractive ensemble has attracted numerous visitors to Ponitz in recent years.  

The elderly residents were able to fulfill a long-awaited wish - to have their own family doctor in the village. Dr. Balazsne practices once a week in the community of Ponitz. The Ponitz location has even won over the large company Netto-Zentrallager and has already expanded several times.
