Preacher Church and Preacher Monastery Erfurt
Preacher Church and Preacher Monastery Erfurt
The Predigerkirche, an early Gothic hall church, was built by Dominican monks in the 13th/14th century. Here you will find many traces of the great theologian and mystic Meister Eckhart. As prior, he gave his famous speeches of instruction here. The east wing of the monastery complex with its chapter house and refectory also dates from this period. Worth seeing are the medieval stained glass windows in the north aisle of the church, the choir stalls from 1280, the depiction of the death of Mary in the sedilia niche in the high choir, the rubble windows and much more.
