Pretschwitz is a district of the municipality of Rauschwitz in the Saale-Holzland district of Thuringia. First mentioned in a document in 1230, the surrounding area is characterized by agriculture. The small hamlet is home to a Riding stable and in the neighboring Döllschütz a Cross-country course where riding tournaments take place.
One of the oldest towns in Thuringia is located not far from the village, Eisenbergwith a photogenic baroque Castle church and the two-part Castle park with an arch and herb garden. Within walking distance of Christiansburg Castle, the Zoo Young and old with many walk-in animal enclosures and approx. 720 animals to stroke and marvel at.
To the south of Pretschwitz lies the charming wooded Eisenberger Mill Valley. Well-preserved mills, which now function as youth hostels, forest hotels or restaurants, are located on the Rauda stream. The mill valley offers all kinds of activities: a visit to the Mill miniature park at the Robertsmühle, Kremser rides or the loan of a pony for a Riding trip. Hiking enthusiasts will find suitable hiking trails away from the road and the area is well-known among mushroom lovers. The Mühltal is also suitable for cycling tours and is located on the 80km long Thuringian Mill Cycle Route and the Thuringian city chain.
