Pushkin Monument Weimar
Pushkin Monument Weimar
The monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, a great admirer of Goethe, was unveiled on the edge of the park next to the tower of the Duchess Anna Amalia Library to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. The 1.30-metre bronze bust by sculptor Johannes Friedrich Rogge is one of the few monuments in Germany to the popular Russian national literature. The plinth is made of shell limestone. Goethe himself was a great admirer of Pushkin and even sent him a pen as a gift. Pushkin never came to Weimar in person.
