Andreasried cycling track
Built in 1885, the Andreasried velodrome is the oldest still in use and one of the most modern velodromes in the world.
In December 2009, the city of Erfurt received the „Silver Plaque“, the highest award for sports facilities from the International Olympic Committee and the International Association of Sports and Leisure Facilities, for the new construction of the „Andreasried Cycling Track“.
Every year, top-class competitions are held and popular festivals are celebrated.
The cycling track is 250 m long, with a specially coated concrete surface. The track width is 7.50 m with a maximum curve inclination of 41.5°. Both the track and the grandstand for 4,000 spectators are covered. In addition to the track, the 29,200 m² site includes functional buildings with changing rooms and sanitary facilities, a weight training room, an ergometer room and office and sports equipment rooms.
